The newly released film 12th Fail, starring Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is once again the talk of the town after ranking first among IMDb's Top 250 Indian films.

The 2009 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film 3 Idiots (stylized as 3 idiots) was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, co-authored by Abhijat Joshi, and written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Reuniting three years after Rang De Basanti (2006), Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi play the film's title roles in this loose adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone. This is a tale of tears, and maybe some humour. It's a tale of naive longings and desperate actions. When Shyam (Sunil Shetty) travels to the city from his village, he expects to receive an appointment letter from the bank, where his father worked before passing away in a fire accident. As compensation, the bank had promised to offer Shyam a job six months before, but he hasn't received one. The bank manager informs him that Anuradha (Tabbu), who claims to be the best candidate for the position, is the problem.
Shyam must remain in town since he chooses to stand up for his rights. He seeks lodging at Baburao Apte's (Paresh Rawal) home for a fee. He owns a garage.Raju (Akshay Kumar) is the only other paying visitor in his home, although he hasn't paid the rent in the previous two years. However, a threat call and an inadvertently sent to the incorrect number reveal to them how to make a few lacs. Kabira (Gulshan Grover), a well-known thief, has abducted the grand daughter of a famous industrialist and is mistakenly requesting her release on Baburao's phone.
The three choose to engage in a game. They agree to give Kabira the ransom money while pretending to be the industrialist. They pretend to be Kabira, call the industrialist, and want twice the ransom amount. They act as a middleman in order to make a few lacs, but sadly, everything goes wrong when the police become involved. These fairly basic beings dare to try again when their initial attempt fails.
They succeed on their second effort, driven by their respective compulsions and financial needs, but will they truly receive the money?
